We’re incredibly proud to see STEAM Studio recognised on both global and national stages. Since launching in 2024, the programme has brought together Liberty IT teams, museum partners, schools and local communities with a shared goal: to make technology feel more creative, accessible and inspiring for young people.
STEAM Studio’s impact was recently recognised with two major awards: the Community Impact Award at the 2026 ERG Impact Awards in New Jersey and Best CSR Initiative at the Invest in Ireland Awards in Dublin.
For everyone involved, this recognition means so much. STEAM Studio has grown through partnership, collaboration and the commitment of our employee ambassadors, who support pupils as they explore coding in a hands-on and imaginative way.
It is a programme shaped by people who care about creating opportunities, building confidence and helping young people see that technology can be for them.
Launched in partnership with the Ulster Museum, before expanding in partnership with Galway City Museum, STEAM Studio was created to inspire young people in secondary school through hands-on coding experiences.
The programme gives pupils the chance to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics in a way that feels creative and connected to the world around them. Drawing inspiration from museum collections, they learn to design and code their own interactive game using MakeCode Arcade, with support from Liberty IT employee ambassadors.
A key part of STEAM Studio’s impact is its focus on inclusion and accessibility. The programme is free, curriculum-aligned, and available to schools in Northern Ireland and the West of Ireland, with transport provided.
By helping to remove barriers to participation, STEAM Studio gives more schools, educators and young people the opportunity to take part in a unique learning experience.
Since its launch, more than 2,000 pupils have taken part in STEAM Studio. Each workshop offers an opportunity to build confidence, encourage curiosity and show young people that technology can be imaginative, collaborative and relevant to their own lives.
For Liberty IT, that local impact is what makes the programme so meaningful. STEAM Studio brings together our teams, partners and communities to help widen access to STEAM education and to inspire more young people to consider what a future in technology could look like.
The technology provides the platform, but our people help create the impact. STEAM Studio is supported by Liberty IT employee ambassadors, who work alongside pupils as they learn to design and code their own games.
Their involvement brings the experience to life, giving young people the chance to learn from people working in technology and to ask questions about where those skills could take them.
That connection between pupils, educators, museum partners and Liberty IT’s people is central to what makes the programme meaningful. It also reflects the culture our teams continue to build: one shaped by curiosity, collaboration, inclusion and a shared commitment to using technology to make a positive difference.
The ERG Impact Awards celebrate the impact of Employee Resource Groups and inclusive workplace initiatives. Organised by Seramount, a leading authority on workplace and diversity, the awards attract hundreds of entries from organisations worldwide and are judged by a panel of external DEI experts.
The Invest in Ireland Awards recognise outstanding achievements by companies operating in Ireland, with the Best CSR Initiative category highlighting organisations that deliver meaningful social impact through innovative and sustainable programmes.
Together, the awards recognise the role STEAM Studio is playing in widening access to STEAM education and in supporting young people as they explore the possibilities of technology.
At Liberty IT, STEAM Studio is part of a broader commitment to helping young people see technology as creative, collaborative and full of possibility. For some pupils, the workshop may be their first experience with coding. For others, it may be the moment they begin to imagine a future career in technology.
This double award success is a proud moment for Liberty IT, our employee ambassadors and our museum partners. More importantly, it recognises the long-term impact that can be achieved when education, community and technology come together.
