Ben, what excites you most about the future of tech in 2025?
What excites me most about technology this year is also what kind of scares me. Things were changing year by year before, then month by month, and now, it feels like almost daily we see new technologies emerge, especially in AI.
This unprecedented pace where AI is shifting from reactive tools to proactive partners that can make decisions, take actions, and manage tasks independently is a trend that could redefine productivity and efficiency.
What Is Agentic AI?
Can you define Agentic AI and what makes it different from traditional AI?
Definitions vary but Agentic AI is unlike traditional AI models that need explicit prompts or human intervention. Agentic AI can operate independently, setting and achieving objectives, making decisions, and even adapting to changing environments.
AI agents can go off and work by themselves, then come back with answers and outputs. They can affect real change in the world. But with this increased agency comes great responsibility.
How do you think Agentic AI will change how we work?
This big hyper-trend, Agentic AI, essentially opens the possibility of automating any workflow. Imagine a world where we work alongside intelligent agents that act on our behalf, exponentially increasing productivity while reducing costs.
These AI-powered agents can coordinate complex tasks, analyse data, and make real-time decisions, allowing employees to focus on higher-value, creative work. From software development to business operations, the impact of Agentic AI could be transformational.
Beyond AI: Other Emerging Trends To Watch In 2025
While AI continues to dominate the conversation, is it the only technology shaping the future, or are there other breakthrough trends?
AI is definitely stealing the spotlight right now, but it’s not the only thing shaping the future of tech. There are a lot of other exciting trends emerging alongside it.
Quantum computing, for example, is something we’ve been keeping an eye on. If it develops the way some people predict, it could perform tasks that are currently impossible, like complex simulations and designing new materials, while also profoundly reshaping cybersecurity.
We’re also seeing a push toward more energy-efficient processing. And then there’s spatial computing and extended reality, these technologies are evolving fast, and as they improve, they’re going to change how we interact with digital environments in really interesting ways.
These and several other trends will be bolstered by developments in more familiar areas like cloud computing edge computing and wireless networks, as they become more universal and powerful.
Do you see advancements in edge computing and real-time data processing influencing the future of automation and AI-driven decision-making?
The ability to process data closer to where it’s being generated, in real-time, unlocks new possibilities for automation and AI-driven decision-making. All of these trends are interconnected, and together, I think, are creating a future that looks very different from what we know today.
