From inspiring tomorrow’s tech talent and sharing our skills with others, to supporting the great causes in the places where we live and work, we’re dedicated to making an impact in our communities.
Serve with Liberty for local causes
2024 saw our biggest ever Serve with Liberty campaign, with 167 employees dedicating 875 hours to projects in our communities.
Despite some challenging weather, they teamed up to tackle the great outdoors, creating new gardens, paths and fun spaces for local causes, while indoors they painted walls, moved furniture and packed bags.
We're incredibly proud of their hard work as part of Liberty Mutual's global volunteering drive, making visible impacts in the communities we live in, along with our combined fundraising total of £40,000/€48,000 for charities this year.
Our STEAM Studio at the Ulster Museum
This year we launched our STEAM Studio at the Ulster Museum, with over 1300 school pupils now having taken part in this incredible experience which enables them to design, code and create their own arcade game inspired by the museum’s collections.
Not only have we a packed 2025 programme but we're also excited to launch in Galway - watch this space!
We were also thrilled to support Coderdojo Ballymun in Dublin and the CodePlus scheme through the University of Galway, enabling employees in these locations to share skills and knowledge with young people who want to learn more about coding.
Championing inclusion
Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is at the heart of our values, and we strive to create safe spaces for conversations and education, both internally and in our communities. This year we were proud to partner with inspiring local thought leaders to run ‘DEI Forward’. Attendees heard from a panel, including Liberty Mutual’s Melanie Foley, who shared their experiences, learnings and recommendations for enhancing DEI in the workplace.
We were also delighted to host Stonewall and their new CEO in our Belfast office for a thought provoking conversation with their Diversity Champions network, which we’re truly proud to be a member of.
Partnering with Galway university
We’ve built a strong relationship with the university's IdeasLab over the last 12 months, supporting their Enterprise Challenge and CreateHER female mentorship program, and providing mentors for their Start100 entrepreneurial program.
A key highlight of the year was partnering with them to run a hackathon which sought to address the promotion of sustainable infrastructure growth in Galway, with blended student, business and Liberty IT teams using data-backed tech solutions.
Growing our tech community
Whether it’s sharing within our teams, supporting employees to speak at events or sponsoring meetups and other events, we’re committed to growing our amazing tech community – inspiring through our knowledge and experience while also learning from others. Our gratitude goes to every employee who has spoken at a Tech Talk, Show & Tell event, Meetup or Conference: your input to the wider community is invaluable!
