As we bid farewell to 2024, we proudly reflect on a transformative year defined by an unwavering commitment to community engagement, diversity, and inclusion.

This year, through our vibrant Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), we have not only fostered a culture of inclusion but also championed diversity, promoted STEM education, and actively engaged with our local communities.

Join us as we highlight the impactful stories from just some of our ERGs—Pride, Green Scene, Able, Mental Health Champions, Balance, Women in Tech, and our Social Club—that exemplify our dedication to making a positive difference.

Building Community through Pride and Inclusion

Our Pride@LIT ERG has made remarkable progress in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion at Liberty IT and beyond.

With the relaunch of the Certified Ally Training Program and partnerships with esteemed organizations like Stonewall, Pride@LIT has been instrumental in engaging the community through exciting events, including a Drag Cabaret & Bingo night and participation in the Belfast and Galway Pride Parades.

Complementing these efforts, the Able ERG focuses on promoting inclusion for employees with disabilities. Their tireless advocacy has raised awareness about various disabilities, influenced organisational policy changes, and enhanced recruitment practices.

Empowering Women in Tech

Women in Tech group meeting

2024 has been a remarkable year for our Women in Tech (WIT) group. We achieved significant strides in promoting diversity and empowering women to excel at every step of their career journeys. Our commitment to creating a supportive environment for women in the tech industry was exemplified by a staggering 300% increase in female speakers at internal events and a 150% increase at external conferences.

Key initiatives included the International Women's Day Mingle, which gathered 60 attendees at our Galway office, and two presentation masterclasses for 30 female employees, designed to enhance their communication skills and confidence in public speaking.

Advocating for Mental Health

Our Mental Health Champions have emerged as crucial advocates in eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health issues, fostering a psychologically safe environment at Liberty IT.

Engaging initiatives like Mental Health Mingles, thought-provoking blogs, and inspiring podcasts empower colleagues to share their personal experiences and seek support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Their commitment to community outreach, exemplified by fundraising efforts for PIPS and PIETA, underscores our mission to promote mental well-being both within and beyond Liberty IT.

Additionally, our Liberty IT choir has been making an impact by harnessing the therapeutic benefits of singing, recently participating in the Choir Work Choral Festival, showcasing the uplifting power of music on mental health.

Promoting Physical and Financial Well-being through Balance

2024 was another fantastic year for our Balance ERG, dedicated to enhancing our employees' physical, mental, and financial well-being. Our initiative, LIT Gets Moving, inspired employees to collectively achieve an astounding 59 million steps, equivalent to about 1.125 times around the Earth!

We also prioritized financial well-being with insightful blog posts and engaging events. These efforts culminated in a commitment to mental health that was reinforced by collaborations with the Mental Health Champions and Able.

Promoting STEM Education and Environmental Sustainability

Our STEM committee is passionately dedicated to inspiring the next generation of tech talent. By actively participating in career fairs and facilitating coding workshops in schools, we are making significant strides.

The Green Scene ERG has taken significant strides in promoting sustainability within Liberty IT and the broader community.

By raising awareness about environmental issues and initiating partnerships for sustainable practices—such as office recycling and community tree planting—Green Scene is paving the way for ongoing efforts to reduce our ecological footprint.

Celebrating Connection and Community

The Belfast, Dublin, and Galway Social Clubs have blossomed into vibrant community hubs, bringing members together through an array of engaging events throughout the year. From theatrical performances and culinary experiences to comedy nights and summer BBQs, the club has cultivated camaraderie among its members.

We kicked off 2024 by partnering with the Cancer Fund for Children. Our LIT Giving group has been instrumental in organising fundraising initiatives, and community service projects.

A standout event was our Serve with Liberty programme where 167 employees dedicated 875 hours to 13 community projects. Together, we raised a staggering £40,000 to make a tangible impact on those in need.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the achievements of 2024,  our employee groups collective efforts have created a more inclusive and supportive workplace while positively impacting the communities we serve. We couldn't be prouder of them.

Together, we look forward to a year filled with new opportunities for engagement, growth, and positive impact.
